Each room has its own theme based on some of the most well-known and significant mountains in the world. On the first floor, the Tahoma room boasts a king size bed, a 32-inch Roku-enabled TV, and décor inspired by Native American culture. A twin rollaway/cot can also be found stored in the room's closet. The adjacent Teton room contains two sets of bunk beds and has an American West theme. On the main level, the Annapurna room, with its king size bed and 32-inch Roku-enabled TV, is a nod to the mighty Himalayan Mountains, while the Aconcagua room, with two twin beds and 40-inch Roku-enabled TV, is inspired by Andean culture. At the chalet's most upper level is the Matterhorn Suite, with a king size bed, 32-inch Roku-enabled TV, jetted jacuzzi tub, and modern European-inspired décor. Guests will have access to the entire house and property. The chalet has keyless, contact-free entry. There is no need to stop and pick up a key. When you arrive in the area, you can go straight to the chalet and unwind! I will be available at all times while guests are in the chalet, although I try to keep regular business hours as much as possible for the sake of my family. If something needs attention, I will do my best to get it fixed as quickly as possible! Bryce Resort and the town of Basye sit in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley, with quaint towns galore, including nearby Mount Jackson, New Market, Edinburg, Woodstock, Strasburg, and Harrisonburg. Each of these is worth a visit in its own right, steeped in history and Americana charm. The four-season resort offers tons of things to do year-round, including skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing in winter, mountain biking in the summer and the fall, an 18-hole PGA Championship golf course, water sports on Lake Laura, and a great frisbee golf course. All of these activities are at your fingertips at Adventure Awaits. Nearby restaurants include: - The Copper Kettle at Bryce Resort (2 minutes or walk) - Freed's Biscuits in Basye (3 minutes) - R House Wine and Cafe in Basye (3 minutes) - Bean's BBQ in Edinburg (25 minutes) - The Edinburg Mill Restaurant in Edinburg (25 minutes) - Southern Kitchen in New Market (25 minutes) - The Woodstock Cafe in Woodstock (30 minutes) - Woodstock Brew House in Woodstock (30 minutes) The Shenandoah Valley also has its fair share of wineries. Some nearby wineries include: 1. Cave Ridge Vineyard (15 minutes) 2. Wolf Gap Vineyard and Winery (20 minutes) 3. The Winery at Kindred Pointe (20 minutes) 4. M&R Vineyard (20 minutes) 5. Third Hill Winery (20 minutes) You can do a plethora of things outdoors. Great hiking is everywhere. The Orkney Springs trailhead is right there in Basye and is a very respectable stretch of the legs. Also try the Wolf Gap recreation area across the state line in West Virginia for the popular Big Schloss trail, the George Washington National Forest in and around Fort Valley (for my money, the quiet Kennedy Peak trail is the best one around with a great payoff at the end), and, of course, the Shenandoah National Park with its numerous trailheads along the stunning Skyline Drive. I recommend Old Rag, although the very busy Hawksbill and Stony Man hikes are also worth doing. If you are into spelunking, you are in luck. The Shenandoah Valley is home to some great cavern complexes, including the Skyline Caverns (your kids will love the mirror maze), Shenandoah Caverns, and the unforgettable Luray Caverns. Head over to the Shenandoah River Outfitters in Luray if you some river fun is in your plans. The chalet is on a regular, monthly pest control schedule, but sometimes unwanted bugs may venture inside. Basye is home to stink bugs, Asian beetles, and wood roaches, which view open windows and doors as an invitation, especially at the changing of the season. I recommend keeping windows and doors closed when not in use. The great thing about being on the slopes at the top of the mountain is that you don't really need to use your vehicle to go anywhere. However, if you choose to see some sights in the Shenandoah Valley or decide to eat out one night, you will need to have reliable transportation. Note that the chalet is at the top of a fairly steep road and driveway which may become icy in winter, so a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended during the winter months. Adventure Awaits is on a paved road that is regularly plowed during winter when there is snow on the ground. That said, the hills in Basye can be extremely steep and at certain times of the year, you may find that you need a good 4WD or AWD vehicle to make it up and down the roads. Moreover, the driveway is narrow due to the chalet's position near the top of the mountain. I highly recommend using a 4x4 if you are visiting in Winter. Since the chalet sits at the top of a mountain, there are several flights of stairs both inside and outside the house. Those with mobility issues should take this into consideration. Most of the amenities at Bryce Resort are available to guests at the resort using the complementary passes. It is worth noting, however, that these do not include the resort pool, which is open seasonally, but is only available to resort members. Check in is at 4:00 pm and check out is at 10:00. These times are fixed. The cleaners keep a very tight schedule and make their plans around this six hour window. Out of respect to them, I cannot make exceptions to these times. Please also note that as a small business, I am not able to grant last-minute refunds, so I highly recommend protecting your investment with travel insurance. So why book this property? Location. Steps from the ski run. A true ski-in/ski-out location. Views to die for from the comfort of the hot tub. Close to wineries, breweries, distilleries, hiking, caverns, quaint towns, and the best that the Shenandoah Valley has to offer. Layout. Five spacious bedrooms, 4,000 square feet, two living rooms, awesome amenities, ample table seating for large groups, a great room that is wonderful for gatherings and movie nights and a game room with plenty of entertainment options for stay-at-home fun. Love. My family has put some of our heart and soul into the chalet, renovating and restoring it. It is a labor of love and we hope all the hard work has paid off. The chalet remains a work in progress, but we love sharing the enjoyment of it with others. We promise to do our best to make your stay there special. Unique benefits: When you stay with us, you will be supporting a woman-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned small business. We are proud of our commitment to always pay cleaners and other workers a living wage. We'd love to invite you to make use of the instant book feature, but if you aren't ready to book yet, you can always bookmark this house by clicking the heart symbol in the upper right corner. August 2023 5.00Dolly and Brendan were extremely accommodating during our stay and ensuring we had everything we needed. They were very communicative when asked a question. The house was clean and very spacious for the group. We had a gorgeous view of the mountains, and the pups thoroughly enjoyed themselves as well. Definitely highly recommend and would stay again with Dolly if ever in the area.

October 2023 5.00A great getaway spot and there was plenty of room for my big family.
We loved our stay at this house. Great main living space area for the whole family to hang out; the kids loved the game room and the TV space in the game room; very comfortable beds and nice linens / towels. Our family went to the Shenandoah Caverns for an outing, which everyone enjoyed. Dolly was very responsive throughout the weekend when we had questions. The only issue we had was that the hot tub water was cloudy all weekend, so we weren’t able to use it. Dolly is aware of the issue and is working on a fix for the next guests. Thanks for everything!
